I honestly didn't know what to expect from this, but I've been really pleased with it.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife. We're both fascinated by those super-cheesy fiber optic sculptures, but refuse to have them in our home because, well, they're super-cheesy. But this is a very respectable substitute for people who want to at least pretend to be adults, but still like to stare at something sparkly and colorful. Honestly, you can't look away. It's a great conversation piece.

I love the fact that the base is ceramic instead of plastic, and that when it's off it just looks like a branch.

But that's not to say it's perfect. I'm giving it four stars for a few reasons, including:

-The color wheel in mine is finicky; sometimes it works right away, sometimes not.
-The color wheel runs too fast for my taste, and feels a little more frenetic than I'd like.
-Believe it or not, there's no on/off switch on this thing. I added an in-line switch, but honestly. No switch? Really?
-The title of this product says it has an LED lamp, but the description (and the heat it produces) says it has a halogen lamp.

Minor complaints aside, I really like this and would recommend it to anyone looking for something fun to stare at while playing grownup.

I've got a small fiber-optic Christmas tree that I really enjoy, and I always hate to pack it away at the end of the holiday season. So I started to wonder whether there was anything similar on the market that didn't necessary scream "Christmas." This is it! It's got a lean, sparse look that makes it very attractive and modern looking when the lights are turned off, and with the lights on, I get that wonderful twinkle that I usually have to miss eleven months out of the year.

You can easily shape each branch to suit your artistic eye, and the brown color that I chose makes the unlighted tree look fairly natural and organic.

There are only two downsides for me:

1) There's no On/Off switch. Instead you simply plug and unplug the tree. I quickly solved this inconvenience by plugging it into a timer.

2) I think the process of changing the lightbulb is going to be a hassle. I have an LED light that I was curious about swapping with the halogen bulb that came installed in the tree base, but when I tried to take the base apart, it became clear that it was going to take more work than I was in the mood for, so I gave up and left the original bulb installed. But it makes me dread the day that the original bulb finally burns out.

But those are minor issues (and the only reasons I didn't give it a 5-star review). If you want modern looks and cool twinkly lights all year round, this is the tree for you! -- Love the look!
